My mother in the lean-to
Underneath the gable
The snow has covered the door
She is making a flower arrangement
For Jim Callaghan
Who is visiting the highlands
I watch and see her smiling
As I sit curled up beside her table
On the lime stone floor
I see my mother shining
On that snowy December Day
Happier than she had been before
As she held her flowers tenderly
And arranged them
Into a fine display
For all to be in awe of
That took their breath away
Now she’s left this world
I will remember her smiling
Absorbed in each placing of petal, leaf and stem
Now she’s left this world
No more thought of her Bi Polar;
The depression that came back
Again
Again
Again
I choose instead
To remember her
As she was in her lean-to
On that snowy December day
Remember Me
I am the spirits in the trees
the Selkies in the seas
I am the glistening stars
shining down on you
remember me
sisters, daughters, grandsons, friends and soul mates
I am your keeper,
your watcher at the gates
and your clear blue light
your coats of silver protection
on dark and lonely nights
remember me
sisters, daughters, grandsons, friends and soul mates
on your wild eternal oceans
I will guide you on the foaming waves
and be there right beside you
on the paths you chose to pave
I am your candles
gentle light
for all your authentic ways
remember me
sisters, daughters, grandsons, friends and soul mates
I am a walker in the hills
a climber in the mountains
a snowdrop in your garden
a swimmer in the sea
always there beside you
now I’m free to roam
travelling on my journey
I have gone to find my home
remember me smiling,
remember the twinkle in my eyes
shining like butterflies
remember me with the Selkies, Kelpies and the Faries
remember me for loving life and loving you
as best as I could do
Remember me sisters, daughters, grandsons, friends and soul mates
remember me dancing the night away
remember me….
my spirit is here to stay
